The PBPD has resolved in the January board meeting to put back the requirement of the casebook as part of the Phase I: Validation of Credentials of specialists.
The PBPD casebook is a patient-based record of the cumulative experience relevant to Pediatric Dentistry. It is an accurate record of the patients examined, diagnosed and treated by the applicant in the following categories:
- Dental Prophylaxis and Fluoride Application
- Sealants
- Pulp Treatment
- Crowns
- Extractions
- Fillings
- Trauma Management
- Management of Developing Dentition and Occlusion
- Pharmacologic Behavior Management
The PBPD casebook is a record of training and learning in the field of Pediatric Dentistry. The logbook will be used as part of the assessment towards the recognition as a Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry by the Philippine Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
The purpose of the Pediatric Dentistry Logbook is to assess the level of clinical experience and exposure and to determine proficiency and clinical skills of an applicant in specific pediatric dentistry procedures by logging in the required minimum number of cases per procedure. It is expected that by performing the required number of procedures, the skills in the diagnostic, therapeutic and operative aspect of the required procedure is acquired by the applicant.
This requirement is effective for all applications starting February 15,2024.
